A Message from James Bramwell, President and Board Member of the VWR Foundation
Corporate responsibility has been a long standing element that differentiates good organizations from great organizations. Organizations such as ours exist in a global environment that comprises not only our associates, but the communities in which we live and work.
Philanthropy has always been a value of mine and is an integral part of my personal and professional life. When I joined VWR in 2005, I noticed that our philanthropic efforts were not as extensive as I believed they could be. Over the next two years we worked to expand our efforts from a grass roots level to a more consistent giving model. This included involvement with local organizations, and more recently, campaigns with national organizations.
In January 2008, I encouraged VWR's leaders to evaluate our organization and generate ways to improve our Company. A group of associates from this event identified our philanthropic efforts as a unrealized opportunity and decided to explore how VWR could expand its community outreach by giving back to the science community in which we work. As a result, the VWR Foundation was created.
It is with great personal pride that I invite you to explore our website, which includes information on the Foundation’s mission, funding guidelines, and the application process for grants. As the Foundation develops and grows, we will continue to make updates to the site. I believe the establishment of the VWR Foundation will not only enhance our own environment at VWR, but it will also give us the opportunity to truly make a difference.
